Truth be told, 2020 has not been the easiest year for many industries, and this is no exception for movie industry. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, movie theatres had to be closed and this led to the delay of new movie releases. Fortunately, many non-blockbusters releases are available. 1. Sorry, We Missed You

In this compelling drama, Ricky (Kris Hitchen) struggles to deliver food for his family since his 2008 crash. The crash made Kris go through financial struggle that made him get into a cycle of debt. After spotting an opportunity to earn some cash as a self-employed truck driver, things take a twist, and he is trapped in a toxic situation.

2. Da 5 Bloods

A group of men calling themselves the Bloods discover some gold in Vietnam. After burying it, and deciding to come back for it, only for them to lose their leader in a twist of events. This intriguing film is directed by Lee Spike and it takes the audience through themes of greed, brotherhood, and racism.

3. Miss Juneteenth

This film follows Turquoise Jones, and her daughter Kai on their efforts of making Kai the Juneteenth beauty pageant, a title her mother once had when she reached her age. They go through a lot together, and their relationship becomes even stronger as the film continues.

4. Lost Girls

Lost Girls is a true crime story that revolves around the disappearance of Shannan Gilbert, a sex worker, and her mother’s effort in search of justice. Upon realizing that the police are taking the matter less seriously given her profession, the mother decides to investigate the disappearance of her daughter, and uncovers dangerous, and twisting plans leading to her disappearance.

5. The Invisible Man

A woman is being harassed by her abusive husband, who apparently had committed suicide. The film stars Elizabeth Moss, and it depicts domestic violence, its cause, and the road to recovery. With elements of thriller, sci-fi, and horror elements, the movie is a must-watch.

6. Birds of Prey

Margot Robbie stars in this film as Harley Quinn after she breaks up with the iconic villain. With the help of her acquaintances, such as Black Canary, and Helena Bertinelli, they join forces to take out a crime lord targeting who is after a young girl.
